Addison is now a big sister! Kaden Alan was born on Friday, March 26th @ 2:23 p.m. He was 8lbs, 3oz and 21 inches long. I had a c-section this time, and I have to admit, it was the way to go! Recoop time was a just a tad more complicated with the scar and not being able to pick Addison up, but we're (Addison) is adjusting to that. She has officially become "Daddy's Girl" and Brian is eating it up. As much as I hate missing my cuddle time with Addison, it is the most heartwarming thing to see her cuddle up with Daddy. She's quite a proud big sister, too. She loves giving Kaden hugs and kisses. She has her tantrum moments which I'm not too fond of, but I'm hoping those with pass.

Kaden is doing great. He's gaining weight and eating a ton. :) Only thing is, the poor boy has his days and nights mixed up quite a bit! He sleeps most of the day and is up every 2 hours at night. Mommy and Daddy are working on this, but it hasn't really changed just yet!

Christmas Time

I'm back!!!

After many months and many apologies from me, I'm finally updating! Addison has grown and changed so much since my last post. She's talking up a storm, repeating everything said. Her favorite show is "Prep and Landing" and she asks for it multiple times a day, saying "ep an aning, ep an aning." She's so serious when she asks for it that Brian and I make her ask more then once. :) She also loves playing with stickies and when she does something "good" or "nice" she quotes "Now I get a sticky.... now I get a sticky." She's just growing up so fast and becoming more of a child and less of a baby. :( We're also having to do time-out with Bug, which is another hilarious adventure. I wish I could capture the look on her face when she has to go sit in time out until she's ready to say sorry or "shwarry" in Bug talk.

Watching Prep and Landing

Christmas was a good time this year with Addison. She still doesn't get that there's usually a toy wrapped inside and she seems more concerned with throwing the "tash" (trash) away after each little piece is ripped off. She got lots of goodies from everyone and we're still trying to find places for all of it! She likes Mommy's new pots and pans!

On another note, Brian and I still haven't decided on Addison's baby brother's name. We just can't seem to agree on one, but we're working on it. I am 26 weeks and having a pretty smooth pregnancy. Addison doesn't understand why she can't bounce on mommy's belly anymore, so poor daddy gets bounced on a lot.

An Early Birthday Present

Even though there are still a few days until Addie-bug's birthday, Nana and Pop went ahead and ordered her present. They had decided to get her a plastic outdoor house since she loves the one at Becky's and I had one when I was small and I LOVED it! So, on Sunday, Addison and Daddy put together her house while Mommy tried to keep her away from the drill. Here are some pics of Addison and Daddy working on the house together.

Working together to get the house done.

The finished product.

Calling my Nana and Pop to tell them thanks....

Can't you see I'm on the phone right now?

Needless to say, it's been hard to keep Addison inside when she knows her house is out there! She slept A LOT yesterday throughout the day.
2. I think she's gotten a tad bit spoiled by sleeping on daddy's chest for the past 5 days. (which daddy doesn't mind at all).
Oh, I forgot to mention we went to the doc yesterday and they prescriped what is called "Mary's Magic Mouthwash." This is not a treatment for the mouth/tongue sores, but it does help numb them temporarily. Grandma brought some mouth swambs from Riley, so we could administer the mouthwash easier.
So, 7 am rolls around and Addie-bug wakes up. She woke up semi-fussy, but not screaming like before. We did our usual morning routine of feeding Bella, letting her out, etc... Addison got her antibiotic for the ear infection, Motrin for the pain, and then we swabbed her mouth. She then preceeded to eat 2 yogurts AND 1/4 cup of rice cereal. She drank milk and juice inbetween too, without complaint, cries, or even a painful look! She even returned to her old ways of playing at the front window and just jabbering the entire time. Things are beginning to look up!
Now, we're just waiting on Nana to get here safely with all the storms going on in Southern Indiana....
Thank you to all who have had us in your thoughts and prayers. We realize this isn't a "serious" thing, but it upsetting and painful to see your little one so distraught and in pain. It means a lot to us to know so many people care! :)

A Rough Go....

Ok, so my last week before school starts up again is not going to be the peaceful, relaxing one I was hoping for. Thursday, after a great day of working in my classroom and getting a lot of stuff done, I picked up Addison at Becky's. She just wasn't herself and Becky commented on it too. She felt really warm to me, so when we got home, we took her temp. It was 103.8! I about died. We immediately started motrin and tylenol to break the fever and took a lukewarm bath. She was extremely fussy and inconsolable, so I called the doc around 10:00. We couldn't get her fever to break and the lowest we ever got it was 101. She ate a bottle right after I talked to the doctor. If I had known this would be her last meal until sometime on Saturday, I might have tried to make a 10 once bottle!

Against everything you read, Addison slept with us Thursday night. I woke up around 1:30 and could feel more heat radiating from her than a furnace. I took her temp again and it was 106! I have never moved so fast in my life. She was in the car and on the way to the ER in rapid time. The docs there did a chest x-ray and took a urine sample. Having to give a 10 month old a catheder broke my heart. The urine test came back with white blood cells in it, which means an infection of some kind, so they were sending that off to get a complete culture on it. They sent us home, telling it was something viral and to keep up the tylenol/motrin combo to try to help with the fever.

Friday morning we headed to the doc for a follow up. Dr. Gill checked her out, did a throat swab to check for strep just in case, and noticed a small white spot forming on Addie's tongue. The day didn't get any better from there. It was truely awful. I cannot express in words the emotions I have been through, or what it feels like to watch your child want to eat and not be able to; to want to take a drink and scream in pain afterwards. By the end of Friday night, Addison's tongue was covered in a white film and she was again, inconsolable. I called the doc on call and when I told him the symptoms-white coating on tongue, can't eat or drink without screaming-he asked if she was drooling, which she was doing uncontrolably. When I told him this, he said "Get her back to the ER immediately." Scary!

So, after many hours WAITING in the ER, she was finally diagnosed with hand, foot, and mouth disease. After talking with some people who have either had this, or have dealt with a child having it, it is one of the most painful things someone can go through. Now, having a small child have it who doesn't understand why she can't eat or drink without extreme pain is even worse.

To make matters a tad better, Nana and Pop came up to help with Bug and Grandma and Grandpa came over. I know it's hard for them to see their happy little girl in such pain, but they struggled through and made her smile a few times. :o)

Everything I've read online says you basically have to just wait for the virus to run it's course. Now, that is MUCH easier said than done! The mouth sores and the severe fussiness are the worse part. The only thing that seems to keep her from fussing is by being outside. Thank God we have had such beautiful weather. As I sit and type this, she is outside, on daddy's chest, under the tree. I'm not sure if it's the birds chirping, or the breeze blowing, but it's the one and only thing that calms her down. She will immediately stop fussing as soon as you step out the door. I'm sure our neighbors are wondering what we are doing. We've never been out front so much in the 2 years we've lived in this neighborhood.

We are now on day 5 of being sick and day 4 of having the sores. Hopefully we will turn the corner to Mending street soon. I'm not sure how much more of this we can all take...

One Foot In Front of the Other

Well, it has finally happened. Addison is truly walking at 10 1/2 months. It all started with a couple steps toward a stroller she wanted to play with and it just seemed that each day she would add a few more steps. As of tonight, if she would lose her balance and fall down, she made sure to push herself back up and take off walking again. Before, she would just stay down and crawl wherever she was headed, but that is no more! She is so funny to watch that I now see why they are called "toddlers." She hasn't really grasped changing direction too well, but I'm sure it won't take her long! I know every mother and father think their child picks things up quickly, but I really had no idea she would be walking so soon! She honestly seemed to really get the hang of it overnight! Watch out world, we have a walker! :)

Pure Talent

She's a natural. Now, she LOVES bath time, so I assumed that she would LOVE the pool too, right? Wrong!! Maybe it was the huge inflatable hippo that is part of the pool, but this child wanted nothing to do with getting in the water. I thought the hippo was a brillant idea...providing some shade and sun block, but Addison wasn't as thrilled with it as mommy! She was much more content to pull at the grass along side the picnic blanket. She was happy to sit at the side of the pool and bat at the toys inside, floating in the water. She was very unhappy when you tried to actually put her in the pool and would quickly climb out. So, daddy tried to help out and get inside the pool. I have never laughed so hard! She eventually sat down and played for a short amount of time, but as soon as she was in by herself and realized it, she crawled right out. I can only hope we'll have better luck next time!

I sure do look cute in my swimsuit!

Even after Daddy got in with me, I still wasn't thrilled about the hippo...

This isn't too bad, I guess....

Enough is Enough...

So, Carter's was having a sale and Addison is outgrowing her sleepers....I had the great idea of heading to the Carter's store in Keystone to buy some. Since Nicole and James are expecting Jackson sometime in late July (if he waits that long), we asked them if they wanted to go spend some $$ too. They were in. Making a long story short, while we were dressing Bug, I had the idea to finally try a bow in her hair. (Ok, I was going to do a headband, but Daddy said no. Sorry, Nana, but it reminds him of Jean Bice from Quaker Factory!) She's getting quite a bit on top (not so much on the sides) and.... she actually had enough hair! It was just the absolute cutest thing so Brian and I decided to have our own photo shoot in her room. She was quite the little ham for the camera. Here are a few of my favorites...

Pictures to Enjoy

So, I caught Addison standing on her "Jeep" reaching for the steering wheel... I haven't posted anything in practically two months! May is such a busy month for me, with school ending and trying to get everything in order there. It seemed like I didn't leave the building once before 4:00 and if I got out that early, it was a miracle! Now, the question is where do I start catching you up with everything??

Let's start with May...

On May 15th, Addie-bug had tubes put in her ears. The chronic ear infection that we could not get to go away finally won out and at 8 months, we had tubes put in. I still cannot believe what a short procedure it really is. Everyone told me she'd be done in no time and it really did happen as fast as they said. My response to the doc when he came out to get us was, "But I'm not done addressing envelopes yet!" :) I will say the after affects of anesthesia are not fun. Poor Bug was so out of it, she just kept crying and crying (screaming is more like it). I felt totally helpless and nothing really comforted her. But, after a nice long nap late morning, she was back to her chipper self! The ear tubes really have worked wonders. Granted, they are quite nasty when they drain, but I'd much rather be able to clean that out then have it sit in her middle ear like it was. Yay for tubes!!

So what else has Addison been up to? She is into EVERYTHING. No window screen is safe, no baby bag is off limits, no kitchen draw should be left unattended. This child is all over the place. She especially loves the kitchen, which we can't keep her out of! She crawls to the back sliding door and yells for "Belllll" which is her favorite word to say, even if Bella is standing behind her. She waves bye to herself and to all the traffic going by at Becky's. She says "Dada" when you tell her "momma" and then smiles. :) She hates when you take something away from her. She WILL NOT eat vegetables unless they are smothered (aka hidden) with pears or apples. She especially loves to bat the spoon away if she knows veggies are on it! Bella is her best friend. She follows her everywhere, even uses her as a step-stool to get up higher on the couch. She pulls herself up on anything that is minutely off the ground. She cruises along anything that is at waist level. She smiles when you tell her "no," with a look on her face like "surely, you don't mean it." She loves to give herself kisses in full length mirrors. Luckily, both grandma and nana have mirrors like those! Dare I go on? I feel like I would be typing all day! She loved the fact that her voice and sounds echoed off the floor, so she LOVED being in that room. But, what really caught her eye was Tabby the Tank outside the glass doors. It was fun to watch her reaction to the cat, since she's never really seen one.

"Mommy, do you see that furry thing out there?

"Hey, where'd it go??"

"Ok, there you are!"

7 months, already!

On Friday, Addison turned 7 months old. Hard to believe that it's already been 7 months. So much has changed in our lives and we are so blessed to have such a happy, healthy baby girl! She is changing and growing so much each day. As I said in an earlier post, she is crawling everywhere! No where is off limits for our little explorer. We headed to Madison for the Easter weekend and her favorite spot at Nana and Pop's was a pile of 3 big pillows. This is also where she decided to try to pull herself up to a standing position. Now, realize that a pile of overstuffed pillows is probably NOT the most stable thing to pull yourself up into a standing postion. Thanks to Nana who both supported the pillows AND kept a hand behind Miss Addison's back while she pulled herself up. But the look on her face (or should I say the size of her mouth being wide open when she realized what she had done) was worth the worry!

Addison also started mimicing most of what she hears so it's time mommy and daddy start watching their language! Last week, Addison's word of choice was Da-Da. Much to the heartbreak of Mommy, it was fun to watch Brian's chest swell with pride as she'd crawl around the house, saying da-da-da-da-da. I thought Brian was proud, but Addison also started making the /p/ sound over the weekend. With this new sound, she mimiced mommy saying "Pop." I've never seen my own dad move so fast as he did when Addison said "pop." :) Now, we're not naive and know she has no idea what these words mean, but it's still fun to say something and watch her try to repeat.

For Easter Sunday, we all piled into the 4Runner and headed out to Clifty for Easter lunch. There were a number of people there and I will boast and say it was fun showing Addie-bug off. She was a big hit with all! We had a great time seeing family and friends and eating delicious food! The disappointing part was the realization that our camera had a dead battery, just as Daddy was getting ready to take an awesome picture of Pop and Addison with the river in the background. Oh well, we'll have to make a return trip to Clifty when everything is really green! Enjoy the pictures of Addison exploring her teacup exersaucer at Nana's. We wish we had more pictures to show you how cute she looked on Sunday, but dead batteries don't take good pictures!

It got worse before it got better...

The good news is she's so much better today! Our little Addie-bug is back to normal, despite her horrendous sleeping patterns lately. The hives are gone. Not a single little red spot on her body to remind us of the last couple days. We've been busy trying to get Addie-bug well! For the past month, she has been on 3 different antibiotics (as of today, 4, but we'll get to that later) all for an ear infection we can't seem to shake. It started out in her right ear and eventually wound up in both for a great double ear infection. I officially hate all antibiotics for what they do to her bottom!!! If they get the ear cleared up somewhat, we have to deal with nasty diaper rashes that come along with the meds. It is the most frustrating thing and she's only 6 months old!

But, ear infections aren't all we're dealing with these days. Miss Bug is crawling!!! :) She's been doing it for a little over a week now and each day she gets stronger and stronger. I caught her the other day going full steam toward the fireplace! Needless to say, Brian and I are WAY behind on baby-proofing our house. Oops!

She's also got a new trick...she makes a fishy face and it's her favorite thing to do!

So, yesterday, I noticed Addison was breaking out in hives around her wrists and elbows. By evening, she had them on her thighs and belly, too. This morning, when we woke up, she was covered. Time to call the doc! We went in and discovered she was having a reaction to a drug. Low and behold, she is allergic to penicillin! Poor thing has angry, red splotches all over her. She is taking benadryl to get rid of those and we had to get our 4th antibiotic that isn't penicillin based to deal with the still there ear infection. It's tough being a six month old!

1st Official Playdate

It was very fortunate that at the time we had Addison, a few of our friends either had a little one of their own, or were expecting one soon. This weekend, we had a few of those friends over for a little get together because being parents is a busy life, we don't get to see each other that often! Leia and David brought Connor, who is 6 weeks older than Addie-Bug, Geoff and Karrah brought Gracyn, who is 6 weeks younger than Addison, and Nicole and James brought Jackson...still in the womb! :) Unfortunately, Addison pooped out a little bit after Miss Gracyn got to the house, but we did get some good pics of her and Connor bonding. Connor was really into grabbing Addison's head, but she could have cared less, she was so into his tennis shoes!

Soon to be 6 months

As of Tuesday, March 10th, Addison will be 6 months old! Hard to believe that 1/2 a year has gone by. She is growing and changing everyday. We now take baths in the "big girl tub" and watch our whale swim around (ok, we really don't watch, we just want to eat it). We've had our first ear infection and been on our first antibiotic. Addison handled it all much better than mommy and daddy did. She was a champ through it all and Mommy and Daddy now love Infants' Motrin (lifesaver!!). We're eating like a pro and sitting up on our own. She's such a big girl and we're enjoying every minute of her growing up! It almost seems like she's changing daily. She's also starting to get up on her knees and rock, but only when she gets really mad! :)

At the end of Feb, Addison got to get all dressed up and attend her first wedding. Mommy was scared she'd fuss through the whole thing, but Addison loved watching all the people around her. She was a big hit with everyone too. She even got to meet her cousin Jacob, who is only 9 days younger than her. It was fun to see them stare each other down, because that's all they did!

Enjoy the pictures from the last month and a half. Addison is starting to become interested in this furry brown thing that always seems to be around. Now that Addison reaches out to grab things, Bella isn't safe. BUT, Bella loves the attention. She also loves to give kisses (which we try to keep to a minimum) but it seems Bella has a new favorite treat. The oh so sweet drool that is coming out of Addison's mouth 24 hours a day. When Bella puts her cold nose up to Addison's face, Addison just coos and laughs. We try not to let Bella lick the drool, but we're not always quick enough. They're going to be crawling buddies soon! We had our 4 month check up this morning and luckily since school was cancelled because of this excellent weather, I got to tag along with Addison and Daddy to the doctor. Dr. Gill said Miss Addison was just perfect. She's in the 98th percentile for height and 86th percentile for weight. Everything is looking good. We can start rice cereal once a day for 7-10 days and then start some tasty solids after that, she said!
Addison also had her second round of immunization shots. She received one shot in each leg and an oral dose of something. The nurse warned us that the shots do burn going in and Addison got to show off what a set of lungs she has! The shocker among the shots was while she was wailing away, mommy noticed two little white spots on her bottom gum line. Having the nurse double check, yep...we have two little teeth. The haven't broken the surface just yet, but you can definitely make them out! The nurse asked if she'd been running a low grade fever, had a runny nose, or been fussier than normal, but our answer to all these was "Nope!" She said we were definitely lucky so far, then!
At 26in, we better be checking the length on most of our 6 month clothes!! :)

Fabulous Four!

Addison is 4 months old today!! I can hardly believe it. She has grown and changed so much in such a short amount of time. She is starting to mimic sounds that Brian and I make at her and it's so funny to watch. She loves to smile and squeal at anyone.

As of Jan. 5th, I returned to the classroom and Addison is now going to the sitter. She's making so many new friends there that play peek-a-boo with her and even make "play"food for her and sit it on her exersaucer. She comes home everyday exhausted and Brian and I have to wake her up so we can spend time with her!

I guess Addison wanted to make her 4 month day special and exciting. I woke up this morning at 3:30, and decided to check the monitor to see how Addison was sleeping. I must not have been completely awake because when I looked at the monitor, I couldn't make out Addison's head and freaked that she had covered herself with a blanket! I raced into her room, scared to death and found her with her feet where her head usually is and her head down at the bottom. Surprise and shocker to me, she was sound asleep on her belly while sucking her thumb! Granted, she's been rolling over onto her belly for quite sometime, but had yet to roll over while sleeping. This must now be her new favorite position because after feeding her and placing her back in her crib, she immediately rolled back onto her belly. Today, for nap time...same thing. Most of the time, she just stays away from her. Brian and I have found out the hard way that we can't leave any bottles or binkys laying around the house because we'll find them in many, many pieces when we get home. Bella just loves chewing them up. She's already gotten ahold of 3.

While at Nana and Pop's this weekend, Addison was playing in her pack and play and I caught Bella sneaking a peak at the binky inside the bassinet with Addison. Hard to believe how fast those 3 months have flown by. She has grown and changed so much in those few, short months and Brian and I are loving every minute of it. Here are a some things that really stand out...

1. Addison loves to hear herself scream. (We just started this today on our activity mat). She's not upset, she screams, looks over at me, and then smiles.

2. She's almost rolled over on her belly. She kicks her legs up in the air together and rolls them over. Usually to the left side. Unfortunately, her left arm/hand is usually somewhat in her mouth and acts like a kickstand and won't allow her to roll all the way over. :)

3. She's loves laying on the bed and bouncing! She just cackles away the entire time.
4. It started with just hitting at the parrot, but soon I saw her grabbing the monkey's tail and trying to bring it to her mouth! She loved playing on it so much, she would fall asleep in mid-play. :)

Mommy also realized that Miss Addison gets grouchy after she's been awake for 2-2 1/2 hours, so mommy watched the clock and made sure Addie-bug got a nap every 2 1/2 hours or so after eating. This made for a very HAPPY baby the whole time we were in Madison!

She's also started sleeping through most of the night...and I'm sure I'm jinxing myself by typing it out right now, but the past 5 nights or so, she has slept from around 9:30 to 6:30 or so the next morning! I actually caught myself drooling for the first time in 11 weeks!!

Addison is also fascinated with her hands, especially the thumb! Now every time we hear sucking, she has her thumb in her mouth and she's getting really good and hitting the mark most of the time. She still hasn't gotten the idea to close the rest of her fist, so she pokes herself in the eyes a lot!

Almost...

Friday morning, Addison and I were playing around on the blanket. Hard to believe it's been 2 months! Little missy is continuing to do great. She now weighs in at 12 lbs, 13 oz and is 24 inches long! Time to bump up to the 3-6 month clothes range...unfortunatley, I don't think we have as many clothes in that age range...Mom-Mom will have to work on that! I must say, Grandpa Bear went all out this time and the cabin we stayed in was amazing. Brian and I had our own little terrace off of our bedroom and the views were gorgeous. Brian got quite a few shots of the sunrise. Friday and Saturday were just spent enjoying each others company and drinking multiple pots of coffee. I would hate to know how many pots of coffee we went through the entire weekend! Sunday we finally left the cabin to head into Gatlinburg where Addison got a lullaby cd with her name on it and Mom-Mom got some awesome decaf coffee-French Vanilla Creme-from Coffee and Co. I really wanted Blueberry Crumble (had it last year, amazing!) but they were out. To my delight, you can order online-www.coffeeandco.com- and I highly recommend it if you are a coffee lover.

Addison did awesome on the car ride there and back. We stopped over in Madison on Thursday to drop Bella off at Nana and Pop's house, where she was spoiled rotten and loved every minute of it. Addison had a slight blow-out of the diaper in Campbellsburg, KY, but after a quick change at the gas station, she was out like a light until we got to the cabin! She did just as well on the way back and was happy to see Nana and Pop again Monday night. She loves the deer heads in the family room!!

Poor Brian had to go back to work Tuesday morning and the only thing getting him through this work week is knowing he gets to go hunting again this weekend-which means quick loads of laundry for Mom-Mom, unpacking everyone and then repacking on Thursday morning. Whew, what a week!

Here's a pic of the amazing cabin...

Battle of the Bottle

Ok, ok, I know all lactation experts say NOT to introduce a bottle before 4 weeks, but since Addison never had any problems latching on, she started taking a bottle of breast milk occasionally at 2 or 3 wks and she did just fine - didn't mind the bottle and didn't seem to notice any difference. See referenced picture....Well...as of 6 wks old, Addison HATED the bottle. I mean she would start screaming as soon as we started to put a bib on her, like she knew what was coming. I'm sure I read every article possible on the internet and in all the books I have how to give your nursing child a bottle. Poor Brian was at his wits end. Addison would scream, choke, turn her head...she wanted nothing to do with it at all. I could see me having to quit my job (this brought on tears of happiness), just so my child would eat. I didn't want to have the child who wouldn't take a bottle and screamed at the babysitter's all day. So, we've been working on taking a bottle for almost a week now. We've bought new nipples, a different type of bottle, and tried all different positions for her to take a bottle.

I am happy to report that as of yesterday, at exactly 7 wks old, Miss Crabby Addie took 2 bottles, each without screaming or complaining until you took the bottle away to burp her. Rounds 1-10 may have gone to Addison, but Mom-mom and Da-da won the battle! For that day....
Now we'll see how well she does this weekend at Nana and Pop's house. One of them can try giving her the bottle... Keep your fingers crossed!

Oh, did I mention she hates any type of pacifier, aka binky, now too? Only if she's extremely tired will she even take one...and that lasts for maybe 2 minutes!

As you can see, she didn't have any problem with taking one before, same as the bottle. She has gained 2 pounds since birth, weighing in at 10lbs, 11oz! She has also grown 1/4 of an inch to stand a tall 22 1/4 in long! It's hard to believe it's already been one month (well, 5 weeks as of Wednesday, Oct. 15). Many late night feedings and many a howls from Addison have added up to one month.
She is starting to sleep a little longer through the night. As of Sunday, she slept 7 hours and Monday she slept a 5 hour stretch. She's beginning to hold her head up high for longer than a few seconds and she makes the funniest faces. Brian and I are still waiting for that real "genuine" smile, which from what I have read, should be coming fairly soon. She loves to smile in her sleep (who knows what's she's thinking about) and you can even make out a small dimple when she smiles really big. She's beginning to coo and talk to herself, although her favorite place to do this is when she's on her changing table. Maybe she's pep talking herself into making that one great poo.... She still loves to sleep on daddy's chest which I don't see changing anytime soon! :)

We can't wait to see what week 5 will bring!

Just a few pictures recently taken of Addison. She did really well, including the short stop at Edinburgh, at the outlet stores. Nana sat in the back with her the entire time to keep her company. This is after Nana spent all of last week with me, while Brian had to go back to work. I don't think Addison or myself would have made it through last week without Nana! She made mom get some sleep while she stayed up with Crabby Addie a couple of nights and even helped with Addison's first bath in her tub! What a Godsend Nana was to Mommy Megan's sanity!!!
While in Madison, Addison got to meet her Aunt Suzi, Uncle Andy, and Cousin Kylee, and Great-Grandma Granny. She definitely has a place in Great Granny's heart, because Great Granny couldn't stop looking at her and kept making special trips over to the bassinet before she left! She even made a special trip on Sunday to see her before we left, which is a lot for Great Gran!
Miss Addison liked Madison so much, we're going back this Thursday to see everyone again and maybe even meet a few more!

1 week of parenthood

So, we've had Miss Addison for a full week now! Where does the time go? She is already starting to pick her head up and when laying on Daddy's chest, tends to turn it from left to right and then crash it down. She's a HUGE sleeper! Which is good at night, but I have already developed the habit of waking up every hour or so to make sure she's still breathing! This is definitely the hardest thing I have ever taken on, but it is so worth her silly smiles after eating (she's probably just passing gas) and seeing those big blue/gray eyes everyday.

We had our first check up today and she has gained 9 oz since we came home from the hospital! She may sleep hard like her Daddy, but she got her weight gaining gene from Mommy! Good news for Mommy is that I don't have to constantly try to wake her up every 2-3 hours to eat! She can go 4-5 now and wake up hungry instead of falling asleep while trying to eat. Good news if we can get her to be sleeping those 4-5 hours when it's nice and dark outside!

This first week also brought her first bath. I was scared she would hate it, but she actually didn't seem to mind. It went by pretty uneventful, but Daddy got some awesome pictures from it.

FYI to all breastfeeding moms out there: Don't believe what you read about babies going through 6-10 diapers a day! I think Addison is averaging 13-15!!! She has a habit of filling one right after we snap the last button on her onesie! It happens to Daddy most of the time, but it has occured with me more than once. You just have to laugh...I mean, what else can you do?

She's Here!!!

Well....as I predicted, Addison decided to come when SHE was ready, although she did her best to hold out until Sept. 11th, she didn't quite make it. Things started bright and early Tuesday morning and ended Wednesday night at 10:35 p.m. with Addison arriving in dramatic style. She was 8lbs 10oz, 22 in. long. How she was folded up in there, I will never know! I was thinking all along she wouldn't have much hair, if any at all, and she came out with lots of dark brown hair! She is thriving and healthy and already has Daddy wrapped around her finger. ;)

I've added pictures for your viewing (and my bragging) pleasure.

You can check out more pictures @: http://picasaweb.google.com/Timm.Megan/AddisonLane#

The Date Is Set

If all goes according to plan (which we all know never does) Miss Addison Lane will make her presence known some time on Sept. 11th. I will be induced at 39 weeks to the day, all beginning @ 6a.m. This means Addison and I will share the same birthday unless two things happen. 1) She decides to come when she wants to and I go into labor before Sept. 11 or 2) Labor takes quite a while and I give birth on Friday, Sept. 12. Not sure how long labor will last by being induced and can't say I'm all that excited about it, but I am anxious to meet this little one that seems to keep me up most early mornings with her 20 minute bouts of hiccups! So, Brian and I get one more week of "normal" life before our lives change forever. Am I really capable of being a mom and being responsible for another human being? Now, I'm not sure if that means that my levels were on the high end of the normal range, but the nurse threw in the word "yet" when telling me to keep my feet elevated and make sure to drink plenty of fluids.
So, after having an entire week off from work, I head back to the doctor today to be "re-evaluated." What this means, entirely, I'm not sure. After staying off my feet for the past week or so and drinking plenty of fluids (water and Crystal Light to be specific), my feet are returning to semi-normal. You can actually make out the bones in my ankles and on the tops of my feet! As long as I'm sitting down, that is. It's almost automoatic that as soon as I stand up, gravity pulls every bit of fluid down to my poor feet and they are engorged with fluid yet again. We'll see what the doc has to say about all this later this afternoon.

Awaiting Test Results

Had our 36th week check-up today... Addison's heartbeat was good at 144. Unfortunately, my swelling has not subsided in my ankles, and my urine tests came back with some protein, so I get the next three days off, while I do a 24 hour urine test, then go back on Wednesday so that can be tested. If too much protein is found in the bucket I have to fill (yes, fill), then they will start inducing me as of Thursday, when I am 37 weeks along. Dr. Case said this could take awhile, as I'm not dialated any at all at this point. Let's just say I am not looking forward to not being able to use the bathroom normally! Maybe this is too much information, but it is what it is. Brian and I ran into school at 5 this evening to make sub plans for the next three days, which took forever and just caused my feet to swell that much larger! The good news is that Dr. Case did not seem too concerned, as my pregnancy has been uneventful and my blood pressure is not high by any means, but it was higher than what it normally is. It's usually around 100 and today was 118. Did I mention that I have gained 9lbs in water weight alone??!?! Brian and I may get to meet our little one a few weeks earlier than expected! I'll keep you posted when I hear results on Wednesday....
P.S. I would post pictures of my sumo wrestler feet, but I don't think anyone would believe they're actually mine... They don't look like they go with the rest of my body!

The Beginning

Since Brian and I are expecting our first child soon, I decided to start this blog so family and friends can also enjoy and partake in what's going on in our lives. Maybe I should have started it sooner, so I could keep a better record of my pregnancy, but seeing that it has been pretty uneventful compared to that of some of my friends' pregnancies, there wouldn't be much to read about, other than my massive weight gain! :)

As for now, we have about 4 weeks to go before baby Addison makes her grand entrance, 5 loads of laundry to do of new baby clothes (that I love to keep getting, so keep'em coming) and I'm dealing with the most swollen feet. I've played numerous games of basketball before where I've sprained ankles and those swollen ankles and feet pale in comparison to what I'm dealing with now. Swelling IS NOT fun, nor is standing on your feet all day, when for the past 60-some days all I did was lay on a couch or sit around. But if this is the worst part, I can deal... I can deal.
