Season's Greetings!

Since having a 3 month old doesn't leave a lot of spare time on our hands, Brian and I didn't get a chance to send out Christmas cards, considering I didn't have Addison's picture taken until last week. So, we figured we'd share on here! Hope everyone has a fantastic holiday season!

Rollin' rollin' rollin'

Addison has been rolling onto her side for a few weeks, but as I said before, always got stuck. Last night, we were getting ready for a bath and she finally got the kickstand out of the way! :) For you're viewing pleasure, we've attached her lastest milestone...please ignore her lack of clothing! Enjoy!

Can't we share?

Bella has been doing an amazing job with Addison. Most of the time, she just stays away from her. Brian and I have found out the hard way that we can't leave any bottles or binkys laying around the house because we'll find them in many, many pieces when we get home. Bella just loves chewing them up. She's already gotten ahold of 3.
While at Nana and Pop's this weekend, Addison was playing in her pack and play and I caught Bella sneaking a peak at the binky inside the bassinet with Addison. If only I knew her exact thoughts....

3 months already!

Last week, Addison officially turned 3 months old. Hard to believe how fast those 3 months have flown by. She has grown and changed so much in those few, short months and Brian and I are loving every minute of it. Here are a some things that really stand out...
1. Addison loves to hear herself scream. (We just started this today on our activity mat). She's not upset, she screams, looks over at me, and then smiles.
2. She's almost rolled over on her belly. She kicks her legs up in the air together and rolls them over. Usually to the left side. Unfortunately, her left arm/hand is usually somewhat in her mouth and acts like a kickstand and won't allow her to roll all the way over. :)
3. She's loves laying on the bed and bouncing! She just cackles away the entire time.
4. She officially has a bumbo seat and loves talking to and chewing on her moo-cow and Mr. Ducky.
Whoa, did moo-cow just talk back?

Winter Attire...

Since the weather is getting quite chilly, Nana got Addison a new hat and gloves from Carter's (among many new 3-6 month outfits). Addison got to try out her new winter attire when Nana and Mommy took her to get donuts one Saturday morning! She looked pretty stinkin' cute...

Growing by leaps and bounds...

Addison and I got to spend 10 whole days in mommy's hometown of Madison with Nana and Pop. During the 10 days there, Addison really grew and changed. She now LOVES her little activity mat and can grab the monkey and the parrot...but I always caught her babbling to the polka dotted giraffe. It started with just hitting at the parrot, but soon I saw her grabbing the monkey's tail and trying to bring it to her mouth! She loved playing on it so much, she would fall asleep in mid-play. :)

Mommy also realized that Miss Addison gets grouchy after she's been awake for 2-2 1/2 hours, so mommy watched the clock and made sure Addie-bug got a nap every 2 1/2 hours or so after eating. This made for a very HAPPY baby the whole time we were in Madison!

She's also started sleeping through most of the night...and I'm sure I'm jinxing myself by typing it out right now, but the past 5 nights or so, she has slept from around 9:30 to 6:30 or so the next morning! I actually caught myself drooling for the first time in 11 weeks!!

Addison is also fascinated with her hands, especially the thumb! Now every time we hear sucking, she has her thumb in her mouth and she's getting really good and hitting the mark most of the time. She still hasn't gotten the idea to close the rest of her fist, so she pokes herself in the eyes a lot!

Almost...

Friday morning, Addison and I were playing around on the blanket. I looked up to see something on the t.v. and found Addison like this....
Not too much longer till we end up on our belly! :)

Just Like Clock-work

Picture the numbers on a clock.....

When Addison gets laid down at night in her bassinet, she's at 12 and 6 like so....

When Brian gets up to get ready for work at 3 am, she is somehow at 3 and 9...
Just thought I'd share the little wiggle worm.

Found It!

It's taken her one day shy of 10 full weeks, but after much determination (and lots of grunting) Addison has officially found her thumb! Unfortunately, she hasn't caught on to the concept of closing the rest of her fingers, so she's constantly poking herself in the eyes with her other fingers! Hopefully it won't take her another 10 weeks to make a fist while sucking her thumb.
PS-Mom-Mom isn't too happy about finding the thumb...you can't really take that away like you can a pacifier!!

Terrific 2's (2 months, that is)!

Addison officially turned 2 months old Monday, Nov. 10th. Hard to believe it's been 2 months! Little missy is continuing to do great. She now weighs in at 12 lbs, 13 oz and is 24 inches long! Time to bump up to the 3-6 month clothes range...unfortunatley, I don't think we have as many clothes in that age range...Mom-Mom will have to work on that! Some things still fit from the 0-3 range, but I'm afraid those are going to become slim pickings here soon!

Gatlinburg '08

This past weekend, the Timm fam made their 3rd annual trek to Gatlinburg. I must say, Grandpa Bear went all out this time and the cabin we stayed in was amazing. Brian and I had our own little terrace off of our bedroom and the views were gorgeous. Brian got quite a few shots of the sunrise. Friday and Saturday were just spent enjoying each others company and drinking multiple pots of coffee. I would hate to know how many pots of coffee we went through the entire weekend! Sunday we finally left the cabin to head into Gatlinburg where Addison got a lullaby cd with her name on it and Mom-Mom got some awesome decaf coffee-French Vanilla Creme-from Coffee and Co. I really wanted Blueberry Crumble (had it last year, amazing!) but they were out. To my delight, you can order online-www.coffeeandco.com- and I highly recommend it if you are a coffee lover.
Addison did awesome on the car ride there and back. We stopped over in Madison on Thursday to drop Bella off at Nana and Pop's house, where she was spoiled rotten and loved every minute of it. Addison had a slight blow-out of the diaper in Campbellsburg, KY, but after a quick change at the gas station, she was out like a light until we got to the cabin! She did just as well on the way back and was happy to see Nana and Pop again Monday night. She loves the deer heads in the family room!!

Poor Brian had to go back to work Tuesday morning and the only thing getting him through this work week is knowing he gets to go hunting again this weekend-which means quick loads of laundry for Mom-Mom, unpacking everyone and then repacking on Thursday morning. Whew, what a week!

Here's a pic of the amazing cabin...

Battle of the Bottle

Ok, ok, I know all lactation experts say NOT to introduce a bottle before 4 weeks, but since Addison never had any problems latching on, she started taking a bottle of breast milk occasionally at 2 or 3 wks and she did just fine - didn't mind the bottle and didn't seem to notice any difference. See referenced picture....Well...as of 6 wks old, Addison HATED the bottle. I mean she would start screaming as soon as we started to put a bib on her, like she knew what was coming. I'm sure I read every article possible on the internet and in all the books I have how to give your nursing child a bottle. Poor Brian was at his wits end. Addison would scream, choke, turn her head...she wanted nothing to do with it at all. I could see me having to quit my job (this brought on tears of happiness), just so my child would eat. I didn't want to have the child who wouldn't take a bottle and screamed at the babysitter's all day. So, we've been working on taking a bottle for almost a week now. We've bought new nipples, a different type of bottle, and tried all different positions for her to take a bottle.

I am happy to report that as of yesterday, at exactly 7 wks old, Miss Crabby Addie took 2 bottles, each without screaming or complaining until you took the bottle away to burp her. Rounds 1-10 may have gone to Addison, but Mom-mom and Da-da won the battle! For that day....
Now we'll see how well she does this weekend at Nana and Pop's house. One of them can try giving her the bottle... Keep your fingers crossed!

Oh, did I mention she hates any type of pacifier, aka binky, now too? Only if she's extremely tired will she even take one...and that lasts for maybe 2 minutes!

As you can see, she didn't have any problem with taking one before, same as the bottle. This child is a piece of work...(kind of like her mother)!

Makes waking up worth it!

Week 5 has brought me the best present yet! Addison likes to wake up around 8ish in the morning. This morning was no different, except for when I told her "Hi" and "Good Morning" I was greeted not with a stinky diaper, but a huge grin! And not just one, she did it multiple times because I kept saying "Hi!" :) What a wonderful thing to wake up to in the morning!!

One Month Down; Many More To Go!

Addison had her one month checkup and is doing splendidly! She has gained 2 pounds since birth, weighing in at 10lbs, 11oz! She has also grown 1/4 of an inch to stand a tall 22 1/4 in long! It's hard to believe it's already been one month (well, 5 weeks as of Wednesday, Oct. 15). Many late night feedings and many a howls from Addison have added up to one month.
She is starting to sleep a little longer through the night. As of Sunday, she slept 7 hours and Monday she slept a 5 hour stretch. She's beginning to hold her head up high for longer than a few seconds and she makes the funniest faces. Brian and I are still waiting for that real "genuine" smile, which from what I have read, should be coming fairly soon. She loves to smile in her sleep (who knows what's she's thinking about) and you can even make out a small dimple when she smiles really big. She's beginning to coo and talk to herself, although her favorite place to do this is when she's on her changing table. Maybe she's pep talking herself into making that one great poo.... She still loves to sleep on daddy's chest which I don't see changing anytime soon! :)

We can't wait to see what week 5 will bring!

Addison's first road trip

This past weekend, Addison got to go on her first road trip to Madison. She did really well, including the short stop at Edinburgh, at the outlet stores. Nana sat in the back with her the entire time to keep her company. This is after Nana spent all of last week with me, while Brian had to go back to work. I don't think Addison or myself would have made it through last week without Nana! She made mom get some sleep while she stayed up with Crabby Addie a couple of nights and even helped with Addison's first bath in her tub! What a Godsend Nana was to Mommy Megan's sanity!!!
While in Madison, Addison got to meet her Aunt Suzi, Uncle Andy, and Cousin Kylee, and Great-Grandma Granny. She definitely has a place in Great Granny's heart, because Great Granny couldn't stop looking at her and kept making special trips over to the bassinet before she left! She even made a special trip on Sunday to see her before we left, which is a lot for Great Gran!
Miss Addison liked Madison so much, we're going back this Thursday to see everyone again and maybe even meet a few more!

1 week of parenthood

So, we've had Miss Addison for a full week now! Where does the time go? She is already starting to pick her head up and when laying on Daddy's chest, tends to turn it from left to right and then crash it down. She's a HUGE sleeper! Which is good at night, but I have already developed the habit of waking up every hour or so to make sure she's still breathing! This is definitely the hardest thing I have ever taken on, but it is so worth her silly smiles after eating (she's probably just passing gas) and seeing those big blue/gray eyes everyday.

We had our first check up today and she has gained 9 oz since we came home from the hospital! She may sleep hard like her Daddy, but she got her weight gaining gene from Mommy! Good news for Mommy is that I don't have to constantly try to wake her up every 2-3 hours to eat! She can go 4-5 now and wake up hungry instead of falling asleep while trying to eat. Good news if we can get her to be sleeping those 4-5 hours when it's nice and dark outside!

This first week also brought her first bath. I was scared she would hate it, but she actually didn't seem to mind. It went by pretty uneventful, but Daddy got some awesome pictures from it.

FYI to all breastfeeding moms out there: Don't believe what you read about babies going through 6-10 diapers a day! I think Addison is averaging 13-15!!! She has a habit of filling one right after we snap the last button on her onesie! It happens to Daddy most of the time, but it has occured with me more than once. You just have to laugh...I mean, what else can you do?

She's Here!!!

Well....as I predicted, Addison decided to come when SHE was ready, although she did her best to hold out until Sept. 11th, she didn't quite make it. Things started bright and early Tuesday morning and ended Wednesday night at 10:35 p.m. with Addison arriving in dramatic style. She was 8lbs 10oz, 22 in. long. How she was folded up in there, I will never know! I was thinking all along she wouldn't have much hair, if any at all, and she came out with lots of dark brown hair! She is thriving and healthy and already has Daddy wrapped around her finger. ;)
I've added pictures for your viewing (and my bragging) pleasure.

The Date Is Set

If all goes according to plan (which we all know never does) Miss Addison Lane will make her presence known some time on Sept. 11th. I will be induced at 39 weeks to the day, all beginning @ 6a.m. This means Addison and I will share the same birthday unless two things happen. 1) She decides to come when she wants to and I go into labor before Sept. 11 or 2) Labor takes quite a while and I give birth on Friday, Sept. 12. Not sure how long labor will last by being induced and can't say I'm all that excited about it, but I am anxious to meet this little one that seems to keep me up most early mornings with her 20 minute bouts of hiccups! So, Brian and I get one more week of "normal" life before our lives change forever. Am I really capable of being a mom and being responsible for another human being? Guess we'll find out in a week!

Back to the Doctor

I was told all test results that came back on Friday were normal and that I wasn't toxic, "yet." Now, I'm not sure if that means that my levels were on the high end of the normal range, but the nurse threw in the word "yet" when telling me to keep my feet elevated and make sure to drink plenty of fluids.
So, after having an entire week off from work, I head back to the doctor today to be "re-evaluated." What this means, entirely, I'm not sure. After staying off my feet for the past week or so and drinking plenty of fluids (water and Crystal Light to be specific), my feet are returning to semi-normal. You can actually make out the bones in my ankles and on the tops of my feet! As long as I'm sitting down, that is. It's almost automoatic that as soon as I stand up, gravity pulls every bit of fluid down to my poor feet and they are engorged with fluid yet again. We'll see what the doc has to say about all this later this afternoon.

Awaiting Test Results

Had our 36th week check-up today... Addison's heartbeat was good at 144. Unfortunately, my swelling has not subsided in my ankles, and my urine tests came back with some protein, so I get the next three days off, while I do a 24 hour urine test, then go back on Wednesday so that can be tested. If too much protein is found in the bucket I have to fill (yes, fill), then they will start inducing me as of Thursday, when I am 37 weeks along. Dr. Case said this could take awhile, as I'm not dialated any at all at this point. Let's just say I am not looking forward to not being able to use the bathroom normally! Maybe this is too much information, but it is what it is. Brian and I ran into school at 5 this evening to make sub plans for the next three days, which took forever and just caused my feet to swell that much larger! The good news is that Dr. Case did not seem too concerned, as my pregnancy has been uneventful and my blood pressure is not high by any means, but it was higher than what it normally is. It's usually around 100 and today was 118. Did I mention that I have gained 9lbs in water weight alone??!?! Brian and I may get to meet our little one a few weeks earlier than expected! I'll keep you posted when I hear results on Wednesday....
P.S. I would post pictures of my sumo wrestler feet, but I don't think anyone would believe they're actually mine... They don't look like they go with the rest of my body!

The Beginning

Since Brian and I are expecting our first child soon, I decided to start this blog so family and friends can also enjoy and partake in what's going on in our lives. Maybe I should have started it sooner, so I could keep a better record of my pregnancy, but seeing that it has been pretty uneventful compared to that of some of my friends' pregnancies, there wouldn't be much to read about, other than my massive weight gain! :)

As for now, we have about 4 weeks to go before baby Addison makes her grand entrance, 5 loads of laundry to do of new baby clothes (that I love to keep getting, so keep'em coming) and I'm dealing with the most swollen feet. I've played numerous games of basketball before where I've sprained ankles and those swollen ankles and feet pale in comparison to what I'm dealing with now. Swelling IS NOT fun, nor is standing on your feet all day, when for the past 60-some days all I did was lay on a couch or sit around. But if this is the worst part, I can deal... I can deal.
